“Grey Gardens” is a one-of-a-kind documentary exploring a mother-daughter relationship. These aren’t just two anonymous people though; instead, the film chronicles Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter, “Little Edie,” who just happen to be the aunt and cousin of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. The filmmakers, Albert and David Maysles, initially intended the film to be about Jackie’s sister, Lee Radziwill. However, after being introduced to Edith and Little Edie by Lee, they decided to shift the focus.

What makes these two women so interesting? First, they live in a giant decaying mansion (the titular “Grey Gardens”) in luxurious East Hampton. The family was extremely wealthy at one time, until Edith divorced and lost most of her money. She apparently stayed in the 28-room Grey Gardens mansion despite a lack of money for upkeep. The women show pictures of themselves from years earlier, and they were obviously beautiful society scions. However, they became more and more isolated from society as they hunkered down into their mansion At one point, the mansion was even raided by East Hampton officials, who wanted to evict the pair due to the unsanitary living conditions. Jackie subsequently helped them clean up the mansion.

All of this action, though, occurs before the film starts in 1975 (some of the back story is presented in pictures and newspaper stories). In fact, in the documentary, not much new happens: the women continue their bizarre existence in the mansion and argue. They argue a lot. Every conversation is filled with their remembrances of better times, when Little Edie was desired by wealthy men and Edith carried on an affair with a pianist. This life is so far removed from their current surroundings, and their regrets about that disparity quickly surface. Apparently, Little Edie had been living in NYC in the 1950s, before her mother had her come back home to take care of her. This arrangement was only supposed to be for a short time, but 24 years later, they are still at Grey Gardens and arguing.

Although the movie focuses on relatives of a very famous woman, the themes of living in the past and experiencing regret are so universal. The women have in many ways a typical mother-daughter relationship, but it’s also so atypical. Quite simply, they live a rather deluded existence, arguing so passionately about past events as though it still mattered or was in the present. Neverthless, the women are fascinating on so many levels, including Edie’s fashion style. Throughout the film, Edie models numerous outfits that she’s created, all accompanied by a turban. Whether she’s bald or just loves turbans is never explored. Funnily, Edie’s bizarre style has become somewhat of an ironic fashion inspiration; the DVD even features Todd Oldham explaining that he has actually used Edie’s fashion sense while designing a number of outfits!

Some people have criticized this documentary for a variety of reason, including calling the filmmakers exploitative. I don’t think that the Beales were exploited – they are both intelligent although somewhat deluded women and likely understood the implications of participating in this filming. Others have said that the material is somewhat suspect – are the Beales “worthy” of a documentary? That’s a judgment call each viewer will need to make. I enjoyed it – the film is like nothing else I’ve ever seen. Although the Beales are deluded at times, their relationship is like a Tennessee Williams play sprung to life! I wasn’t able to turn away, and I know that these women will stick with me for a long time. Most highly recommended.

The DVD extras include original trailers and a fascinating commentary track featuring the Maysles and their associates. They fill in many of the blanks about the film. Fortunately, the DVD includes subtitles, as the women constantly talk over each other during their arguments. You needn’t miss a single word of this hypnotic documentary.

This stellar portrayal of two women, a mother and daughter, who spend their days in a run down house and are ironically aunt and cousin to Jackie O, displays documentary film-making at its very best. Although much has been said about the film, the focus always tends to emphasize the sordid living conditions that Edith Bovier Beale and her unmarried daughter, Little Edie inhabit, in an old estate in Easthampton, New York. Their house has been condemned by officials in Easthampton, and they live with cats and raccoons, but they don’t give a damn about it. They are virtual recluses in their upscale community, “full of nasty Republicans.” However, the film is not about the squalor that most of us would balk at in conventional situations. Their surroundings are only a backdrop and metaphor for the lost opportunities, and isolation that the women are subjected to as societal outcasts. Whether this is by choice, or due to their eccentricities is a mixed bag, but “Big Edie” and “Little Edie” are such magnetically charged women, it is fair to say that they are their own superstars within the world they have created.

Much of the film’s pathos is magnified by the mother and daughter relationship. Little Edie, once a gorgeous, brilliant young woman feels she has been forced to sacrifice her life and a potential career as an entertainer, to look after her mother. Big Edie, once a veritable beauty in her day, was written out of her father’s will for her aspirations to become a singer, and after her divorce retreated to her sea-side estate to spend the rest of her days. It is apparent that both women are extremely co-dependent, but in spite of their inherent needs to look after each other, Little Edie is full of resentment over the arrangement. She points this out again and again, letting us know that when she is with her mother, she doesn’t feel like a woman, but rather a little girl. However, both have clearly been dominated by strict, critical male figures in their pasts, and they do enjoy a sense of freedom and independence in their solitude, even if it comes at the expense of their abilitiy to inhabit the outside world. Little Edie insists throughout the film, that she must get out and move to New York, “My days at Grey Gardens are limited” she tells the Maysles’ camera crew, who record every nuance with objectivity, and a keen eye for descriptive detail of both women and their amazing story.

This is a complex narrative, and it unfolds with intelligent, and often hilarious dialogue from both Big and Little Edie. Little Edie’s sense of fashion is truly “revolutionary” and has been copied and imitated by several designers. Big Edie is more staid, she has “had her cake, eaten it, chewed it, masticated it” while Little Edie emerges as a thwarted Goddess, who feels she never even got a bite of the cake, so to speak. She proclaims herself to be the “greatest dancer in the world” yet alone in the house with her mother, their is no other audience for her to creatively conquer. We watch her, and we are captivated by her, and we accept what she tells us, because she is so emotive and honest.

Fiction could never fully capture the beauty and the sadness that this film evokes. Although we love to laugh with it, it is also a poignant epic, magnifying moments in Big Edie and Little Edie’s lives with uncanny depth and awareness of the subjects. It is simultaneoulsy lyrical, funny and sad. Those who view it and do not understand that this is a masterpiece, are missing the point of this work. And what is that point? I believe it circles around the choices that are made for us, the choices we do make, and the choices we don’t make, and how our fates are are affected by these events.

I give “Grey Gardens” six stars, and I hope you enjoy it. It is a film that can be viewed several times, and there is always something new to discover every time it is screened.

I had caught snippets of Chappelle’s Show here and there before, but I had never made a point of actually sitting down and watching a complete episode. Then a friend of mine told me about a hilarious skit featuring Dave Chappelle as a black white supremacist (he is blind and doesn’t know he is actually a black man); if it was only half as funny as she said it was, I knew I had to see it for myself, so I soon bought myself a copy of Chappelle’s Show Season One. Not only is the skit in question hilarious, it basically defines the type of humor Dave Chappelle brings to the comedy scene. I don’t think the television viewing audience has ever seen anything like this before – certainly not to the extremes that Dave Chappelle takes it. When he jokes about the fact the show has not been cancelled yet, it actually rings with a bit of truth. Very few comedians could get away with this type of over-the-top humor.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Chappelle’s Show – Season 1! Click Here

To say that this is mature humor is something of an understatement. Adult language abounds, and all the bleeps you heard on television are now removed – thus, the Uncensored! tagline. You’ll find a lot of jokes centered on human anatomy – especially female anatomy. Far beyond everything else, though, is a relentless comedic skewering of racism. Some would probably consider this a racist show, actually – the “n word” is used in abundance, and stereotypes of blacks, Asians, whites, and other races are exploited shamelessly. The whole point of the race-based comedy, though, is to show just how extreme and ridiculous racist thinking and behavior really is. Some people won’t “get it,” of course, and they will probably think Chappelle’s Show is one of the most offensive things they have ever witnessed – and that’s OK. The majority of viewers, I believe, will “get it” and will join me in an extended laugh-fest that lasts throughout all twelve episodes of Season One as well as the bonus materials included in this DVD offering.

Among the gut-bustingly funny stuff you will find in Chappelle’s Show Season One are the antics of crack addict Tyrone Biggums (including a visit to a drug awareness day at an elementary school), Chappelle-ized scenes from hit films such as Roots and The Matrix, a news report detailing the profound aftereffects brought about by the paying of reparations for slavery, “Great Moments in Hookup History,” a “Real World” episode featuring one really white guy living with five crazy African-Americans, a hard-hitting documentary detailing the racism of famous animal performers, a documentary covering great inner city gang wars of the 1980s, an interracial episode of Trading Spouses, numerous Chappelle-ized television ads, Ask a Black Dude features with comedian Paul Mooney, a hilarious look at the international Player Hater Ball, and of course a lot of crude jokes about drugs and bodily functions. The only bad thing about these episodes is the fact that they are sometimes rather short. Chappelle featured rap and hip-hop musical guests on each show, but those segments are not included on nine of the twelve episodes you get here (and it’s only a half-hour show to begin with).

Buy,Download, Or Stream Chappelle’s Show – Season 1! Click Here

The comedy is a little uneven at times. A few skits never really catch fire and are thus forgettable, but the vast majority of the material here will have you rolling in the aisles. Even the kind of toilet humor that normally isn’t that funny will have you in stitches because Chappelle just keeps going to the well so many times that he makes it funny despite itself.

Five of the episodes come with audio commentary by Dave Chappelle and the show’s co-creator Neal Brennan (who is white, by the way), as does the extra 29-minute feature of bloopers and deleted scenes. I was actually a little disappointed by the audio commentary; it was informational but not as funny as I had expected. The bloopers and deleted scenes were also less than hilarious – but I realized long ago (thanks to Dick Clarke and Ed McMahon) that bloopers really aren’t very funny much of the time. All these extras are just icing on the cake, though, as the twelve episodes of the show more than make this Season One collection worth the money. Heck, it’s worth it for just the blind, black white supremacist feature by itself.

Dave Chappelle is, undoubtedly, one of the most daring and intelligent comedians working today. At first glance (or listen), his humor may seem offensive or like little more than toilet humor, but if you dig a little deeper you’ll realize that Dave is simply saying the things so many Americans would LOVE to say, but can’t.

Chappelle’s Show is one of my favorite shows on television. Dave’s sense of humor breaks the color boundries and he’s not afraid to attack anyone for a laugh. Whites, blacks, Asian…whoever you are, you’re a target, and that’s the beauty of it. By not singling out anyone, Dave has made a show accessible enough for EVERYONE. Sure, it’s controversial and yes, it can be vulgar, but it’s also hilarious and only the most uptight of people who take everything at face value could possibly be offended by it.

Dave tackles everything from racism to R. Kelly in the first season and it’s some of the most refreshing, intelligent television humor I’ve seen in years. His ability to look inward and poke fun at himself, as well as everyone else, only makes it funnier. Nothing in the show should be taken too seriously. From it’s over-exaggerated racial stereotypes to it’s parodies, everything is done with a great deal of humor and, most importantly, intellect.

Chappelle’s Show is a brilliant piece of television and kudos should be given to Comedy Central for bringing it out on DVD and, most importantly, giving Dave enough creative control over his show to say and do the things he does and keeping it on the air.

“Extinction” – Clark discovers someone is hunting people affected by the kryptonite rocks and the killer’s next target is Lex. Clark uses his powers to save Lex, but is caught off guard when the killer learns his weakness and shoots him with a kryptonite bullet.

“Perry” – Our first introduction to Perry White, The editor of the Daily Planet in the Comics, a once promising journalist whose career was destroyed by Lionel Luthor, arrives in Smallville in search of alien stories for a tabloid news show. In spite of being constantly inebriated, Perry believes he has witnessed Clark using his extraordinary speed, so he devises a dangerous scheme to expose Clark’s superpowers. Meanwhile, Lex learns that Perry has powerful incriminating evidence of Lionel’s shady past.

“Relic” – Clark discovers that Jor-El was on Earth forty years ago. Lana’s great uncle, who was convicted of murdering his wife forty years ago, shows her a picture of the man he believes really killed her aunt, and she is shocked to discover the drifter looks just like Clark.

“Whisper” Attempting to stop a robbery, Clark is temporarily blinded when he shoots off a burst of heat vision that is accidentally reflected back into his eyes by a piece of kryptonite and soon realizes his body has developed super-hearing to compensate for his lack of sight.

“Hereafter” – Clark discovers that his schoolmate Jordan can foresee the future, but is horrified when Jordan tells him he “sees” Lana dying in a fire in the next few days. When Jordan bumps into Clark, the viewer is treated to a quick image of the classic Superman “S” symbol on a red cape, while the camera flies through space.

“Covenant” – Things come to a head in Smallville when Kara, a beautiful girl with superpowers, who claims to be from Krypton, comes to entice Clark to fulfill his destiny. Overwhelmed, Clark turns to his parents for advice but is shocked when Kara forces Jonathan to finally reveal the deal he made with Jor-El. Also, Clark makes a discovery that ultimately redefines his relationship with Lex, and Clark’s relationship with Lana takes a final turn.

One of the best things about watching Smallville is tryting to find all the little hints and inside bits that they place in almost every episode such as the constant use of REd, Blue, and yellow, Superman’s costume colors, and the appearance of the trademark “S”.

Nice extras include commentary on select episodes, deleted scenes, etc…

The popular TV series on the WB channel follows the life of young Clark Kent (Played by Tom Welling) as a teenager. He discovers his amazing super-powers, grows up with the girl he has a crush on Lana Lang, and develops a friendship with a a evil genius, who will in time become the bald Lex Luthor. The Kryptonite that falls in Smallville with Clark causes some crazy things to happen, giving the young hero plenty of opportunities to save the day and one day become Superman. Season 3 is marked by Clark’s destiny calling him to return home. Clark returns to Smallville to help his parents save their farm. Season 3 is just as good as the previous 2 seasons with everything you have come to expect from this great show! This is a great show that I encourage anyone to see. This amazing Box Set has the complete third season of Smallville. The following episodes will include deleted scenes: “Exile,” “Slumber,” “Shattered,” “Velocity,” “Obsession,” “Resurrection,” “Crisis,” “Memoria,” “Talisman,” and “Forsaken.” There will also be a gag reel and commentaries on a few of the episodes.

This movie is one of several fascinating historical threads that I have been following since I first saw it as a 12-year old and loved it. First, it is based on the actual life of a mountain man named John Johnston, later changed to Johnson, and known in the West from the mid-1840s as Liver-Eating Johnson (see the book “Crow Killer” published 1958, R.W. Thorp & R. Bunker). I did not know this until recently and assumed it was all fiction. He was a huge man for his time, 6′2″ and 240 pounds in his early 20’s, had fists the size of baked hams and was best in hand-to-hand fighting with his 16″ Bowie knife. Thorp and Bunker based the book on first-person interviews with several mountain men and others who had known of him, including, surprisingly, the famous photographer of the 1870’s West, W.H. Jackson (photographer for the Hayden Expedition and famous for the first photograph of Mount of the Holy Cross near Vail, Colorado), but the real detail being furnished by an old mountain man named White-Eye Anderson, who told the story to R.W.T. in 1941 when he was in his 90’s. After Johnson’s Flathead wife was murdered on the Musselshell in Montana by a band of young Crow braves, Johnson “took the trail” on the entire Crow nation. His calling card, for over 20 years of butchery on the Crows, was to remove the liver of every Crow he killed and eat it. The Crows called him “Dapiek Absaroka”. Vardis Fischer, on whose book this movie is based, “borrowed” as well certain scenes from a book written in the 1840’s called “Life in the Far West” by George Ruxton, a first-person account of life in and near the Colorado Rockies. This movie does a fine job with a subset of Johnston’s life, leaving out his service in the Civil War, and his later life as a town marshal and finally, his death in an old veterans home in Los Angeles. I got the notion that Fischer’s book bordered on plagiarism after reading Ruxton, and after reading Crow Killer it seems all Fischer did was change Johnson’s name to Jeremiah and slap on a cover with his name on it. The movie also leaves out that Johnson spies, among the pile of bones that was his wife outside the cabin, a round object about the size of an orange – the skull of his unborn baby. He collects the bones of wife and baby and puts them in an iron pot and inters them behind carefully mortised rocks near the cabin; a shrine, his “kittle ‘o bones” those closest to him called it (never in his presence) he visits over the years. Will Geer’s character, near as I kin figger, is based on a friend of Johnson’s named “Bear Claw” Chris Lapp, a man known to say, when presented with grizzly claws his mountain man friends collected for him to make necklaces of, “Great Jehosophat! Pocahontas and John Smith!” The Crazy Woman, one of the most sympathetic characters I have ever seen in a movie, was in real life the wife of John Morgan, a foolish homesteader on the Oregon Trail who quarreled with the wagon master and took off on his own only to be tomahawked and scalped alive by Crows, his daughter raped and scalped alive, and his two young sons killed. Mrs Morgan, having killed several of the Indians with an axe yet driven insane by the loss, lived on the Musselshell and was cared for by Johnson and his fellow mountain men for years. The movie leaves out the little detail that she and Johnson beheaded the Crow corpses and set them on stakes at each corner of the graveyard where she buried her children, the weathered skulls a powerful medicine for the Crows ever after. It was the Crow’s deference to this insane white woman living in their midst that finally convinced Johnson to call off his vendetta against them, after having killed nearly 400 Crow warriors. Liver-Eating Johnson’s grave (and here I borrow heavily from “Crow Killer”) is in a cemetary off of Sepulveda Boulevard (interesting, that. One of Johnson’s comrades was a huge black-bearded Hispanic named “Big Anton Sepulveda”) in a section called San Juan Hill, row D, 2nd stone from the road reads “Jno. Johnston, Co. H, 2nd Colo. Cav.”. Get the movie and enjoy it; it’s a true story. Only took me 30 years to find that out.

He was a big man, maybe even growing in physical stature with the growth of his myth; deadly with his Bowie knife and his gun alike. Formerly a fighter in the U.S.-Mexican war, he had left the lowland’s ways behind in favor of a mountain man’s: the lonesome hunt, the wild outdoors, and the confrontation with nature rather than his fellow men. And he came to be known as “Crow Killer” and “Liver Eating Johns(t)on” when he took war to the Crow nation after they killed his wife.

Based on Raymond Thorp/Robert Bunker’s “Crow Killer” and Vardis Fisher’s “Mountain Man” and scripted by John Milius and Edward Anhalt – with input from frequent Redford/Pollack cooperator David Rayfiel – Sydney Pollack’s and Robert Redford’s 1972 movie loosely traces the mythical hunter’s legend, opening with his arrival at the fort where he buys his first horse and gun. “Ride due west as the sun sets. Turn left at the Rocky Mountains,” is a trader’s goodnatured answer to Johnson’s naive inquiry where to find “bear, beaver and other critters worth cash money when skinned.” But soon he finds that his lowland skills no longer do him any good, almost starving in the freezing mountainous winter before being taken in by old “griz” hunter Bear Claw Chris Lapp (Will Geer in a stand-out role – his and Redford’s deadpan exchanges alone make this movie worth its price).

Setting out on his own again the following year Johnson fares better, even gaining the respect of a Crow warrior prosaically named Paints His Shirt Red (Joaquin Martinez), the first person he encountered in the mountains. After assisting a settler’s wife who had to watch her family massacred by Indians (Allyn Ann McLerie) and reluctantly agreeing to take charge of her son (Josh Albee) – a boy grown mute by the horrors he witnessed, whom he names Caleb – he comes across white hunter Del Gue (Stefan Gierasch), buried up to his head in sand by a band of Blackfeet. Revenging that act unwittingly leaves Johnson with a wife, in exchange for bestowing the Blackfeet’s ponies and guns on Flathead chief Two-Tongues-Lebeaux (Richard Angarola): the chief’s daughter Swan (Delle Bolton). Although neither embraces the match enthusiastically, over time Jeremiah and Swan learn to appreciate and, eventually, love each other. But then fate strikes: Against better judgment pressured into guiding a cavalry company through Crow burial ground, Johnson finds Swan and Caleb murdered upon his return. He sets out after the Crow who invaded his home … and plants the seeds of his myth.

“Jeremiah Johnson” was Redford’s and Pollack’s second of seven collaborations after 1966’s “This Property is Condemned.” What most obviously characterizes this movie is the breathtaking manner in which its cinematography uses Utah’s mountains (doubling for the story’s actual Montana setting): despite studio budgetary limits shot entirely on location, the film had Redford acting as a virtual tour guide to the magnificent Wasatch, which he had recently made his home himself.

But the movie also shows enormous restraint, particularly given its violent underlying story. There’s no blood-gushing “Braveheart”-style, no dramatic score; fights are mostly one-on-one, occurring as they would in real life – silently, with only the opponents’ grunts being heard – and despite his fearsome epithet we never actually see Johnson eat a dead Crow warrior’s liver. (Reportedly a script change on which Redford insisted: wisely so.) Similarly, Johnson’s and Swan’s relationship builds on small symbolic gestures, moving from his coarse attempts to teach her English and refusal to learn her language to conversations in Salish (Flathead); and from her submissive expectation of his exercising his marital rights on their wedding night (which rather repulses him) to later-exchanged tender glances and smiles: Thus, we only learn about their marriage’s belated consummation when one morning Swan points to his beard in response to his question about her reddish cheeks. – Further, there’s no dramatic conclusion; no final battle: as Johnson’s myth begins to grow and he withdraws deeper and deeper into the mountains, he retraces his steps and meets in reverse order the people he encountered after his arrival: Del Gue, the settler now living in Caleb’s mother’s cabin, Bear Claw Chris Lapp; and finally Paints His Shirt Red who, although a Crow, created a monument in Johnson’s honor and sends him off with a last salute, which Johnson reciprocates; ending the movie in an immortalizing freeze-frame shot – again, a feature insisted on by Redford, doubtlessly reminiscent of “Butch and Sundance” (and repeated one way or another in several subsequent movies).

Despite its languid pace and although just under two hours long, “Jeremiah Johnson” formally takes an epic approach, complete with overture, entr’acte and narrator (uncredited, but I’m told Redford’s “Brubaker”-costar Tim McIntire), whose subtle voiceovers and brief songs provide key narrative bridges. While the latter match the movie’s overall style and the overture at least corresponds with Johnson’s mythical stature – albeit also setting up ultimately unfulfilled expectations of a dramatic finale – adding an entr’acte may have been a bit much, particularly in the middle of the ride through the Crow burial ground (incidentally a screenplay addition designed to give the Indians a reason to punish Johnson and not make them appear as mindless killers). In my view this breaks the dramatic tension rather than enhancing it; problematic insofar as virtually all that remains thereafter is Johnson’s gradual withdrawal into the mountains and fights with the Crow. But no matter. This is a terrific movie, featuring great banter with Johnson’s fellow hunters as well as some wonderfully delicate scenes with Swan, showcasing some of North America’s most dramatically beautiful scenery, and growing on you more and more the more often you watch it.

And some say he’s up there still …

“The way that you wander is the way that you choose. The day that you tarry is the day that you lose. Sunshine or thunder, a man will always wonder where the fair wind blows …”

(Lyrics, Jeremiah Johnson’s theme.)

Here’s the idea: a video for toddlers age 6 months and up that teaches them sign language, so they can communicate “mommy,” “daddy,” “kiss,” “baby” and “I love you” before they can talk. If that alone doesn’t melt your heart — if your mouse hasn’t yet forced itself over to that “Add to Shopping Cart” button — then here’s a brief description of what you get.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein – My First Signs! Click Here

Hosted by Marlee Matlin, this sweet 30-minute video uses puppets, live-action video, stills and children to teach the signs for 20 words. The signs are easy to learn, as the videos really drive home their message. For each word, Matlin demonstrates a sign, then video images reinforce it. For example, for the word “kiss” a 30-second video shows a girl kissing her mom, a boy kissing his dad, another dad and son doing the sign together, a painting of a mom kissing her infant, then more video clips of moms and dads kissing their kids, then the sign again, then a boy kissing his big stuffed dog, then a girl kissing her grandmother, then a little girl kissing her doll’s baby bunny! There is no narration, in fact no spoken dialogue at all except for the words themselves. Other words include “cereal,” “milk,” “eat,” “drink,” “play,” “help,” “friend,” “ball,” “sleep,” “bath,” “story,” “blanket,” “please” and “thank you.”

The production values are first-rate. Everything is well-lit and in focus; the clean sets are simple yet vibrant. And the sign language is the real deal: a combination of American Sign Language (ASL) and Conceptually Accurate Signed English.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Baby Einstein – My First Signs! Click Here

There’s no Scene Selection, so you can’t cherry-pick favorite words to play, but a two-minute bonus feature (Sign with Me) reviews them all, and Matlin appears on two one-minute features with some additional words (including “happy,” “sad,” “potty,” “sorry” and “love”). Other bonus features include five cute puppet shows (three minutes total).

All of these Baby Einstein videos are so good — so gentle, colorful and interactive, with nothing but positive messages — that it’s easy to forget that, technically, kids shouldn’t be watching them. That the best way to promote “proper brain development” in kids under 2, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics, is “talking, playing, singing and reading together.” But during those times you can’t be actively engaged with your child (let’s see, that would include cooking, cleaning, laundry…) the series is a great way to give your rugrat a rewarding experience. Plus, you are supposed to be watching this WITH your child. And it’s only 30 minutes (though the menu does include a “Repeat Play” option).

Does it actually work? Absolutely, especially if you watch it together. Even if your child doesn’t learn anything, you’ll be there smiling at his or her happy little face, talking, playing and singing together… it’s just what the doctor ordered!

This video teaches some good first signs, but there is so much filler and that time could be spent in better ways. This video will achieve its goal, but it is not as efficient as others. We stumbled on this anime online a few months ago, and were quite astonished at how good it was. Expert pacing, combinded with a suspense filled story make for quite a ride. But be warned, this anime is not for the faint of heart. It is near brutally violent. The only major flaw is, like many shows in their prime, the final episode (episode 13) leaves you on a cliff hanger that is never resolved in the anime, as the show suddenly stopped.

What whould you get if you mixed Biohunter,Hellsing,& Gantz with F.M.Alchemist?Tokko perhappes.

A running series about a young man Ranmaru, who along:with his sister survived a burtal murdering spree five years ago,at there apartment complex. As a result both brother and sister became police officers. To better solve the unsloved massace Ranmaru, has just graduated into the elite Mobile Investigation Force. It doesn’t take long on the job for Ranmaru- too become invovled in a series of what appearse too be supernatural killings(which are covered up). These cases are insteantly turned over too the secruity force-who inturn enlist the even more elite Tokko force.Which includes another survior from the massacre. As events unfold the prestents of demons & devils(108 via alchemic portal) on earth is reveiled.Acting as puppet masters these monsters, brutally kill humans then release a worm like organizem into there bodies-turning them into, nearly unstopable zombie like creatures.Other discoveries Ranmaru has too deal with are the strang conections his horrific dreams have in common with the Devil Murders, and the strange appearse of a lg symbolic tatoo on his right forearm-which seems too protect him from these creatures, and may land him in Tokko group.

This appears too be a series that going too continuly include GV and possible other adult situtations.Despite being a splatter fest it is not over the top,but deffently not for young veiwers.I decided too keep up with this set by the end of the second show, but like any other series it has it down parts,So I round it off too 4 stars,on a over all bases.Animation of charecters, surroundings and detail, are pretty constitently top notice work.Plenty of gun and sword play throughout.

I really think that I speak for everyone when I say: “PLEASE GIVE US THIS DVD SOON!!!” Hasn’t it been long enough? Don’t we deserve to own the single most anticipated DVD release of THIS (or any other) century? This is the best stand-up comedy movie ever made……EVER!!! Before we die, give us one last moment of joy. Release this title on DVD as soon as possible. We remain, as always, your humble servants.

I first saw this when I was 10 years old (granted it was too young because he is pretty crass), and I have loved it ever since. How it is possible that more people don’t know about this is beyond me. I find myself quoting him in my everyday life – HEY BOY! HEY BOY! YOU LOOK MIGHTY CUTE IN THEM JEANS! – every once in a while I come across someone who has seen it and it’s almost like we belong to a secret club. Sometimes I laugh out loud even if I’m just thinking about it, especially if I’m thinking about the sketches about the ice cream man and the family picnic. I recommend this to EVERYONE. If I could rate this higher I would. I join other reviewers in wishing there was a wider availability, but you can find it somewhere. Watch it and join the club.

It’s Christmas Eve and there’s a blizzard that shuts down an airport stranding onboard travelers. Spencer (Dylan Christopher) and his sister Katherine (Dominique Saldana) are stuck in an Unaccompanied Minors room for the holiday instead of spending it with their Father. In the UMS room, there a group of kids (including Spencer) that keep trying to get out of the room get into even more trouble. While those kids are being chased around the airport by security, the Unaccompanied Minors that were still in the room (including Katherine) get taken over to a hotel right behind the airport. Spencer and the others decide to put aside their differences and work together to get out of the airport so Spencer can get to his sister before she finds out Santa didn’t bring her any Christmas presents. Will Spencer be able to reach his sister before Christmas morning?

I loved this movie because it’s hilarious and adventurous. It makes you want to laugh out loud and jump out of you’re seat. It’s the best movie I’ve seen all year! It will definitely, make you want to see it again. This movie ideally shows you a funny Christmas story.

I totally recommend this movie for people of all ages that enjoy a funny and joyful movie. Make sure you see this movie sometime of your life because it is the best movie of the century!

Let’s face it, there is a subgenre of family films that prepubescents absolutely love, the one where the kids outsmart the evil, bumbling adults. Every generation has had them, from `The Little Rascals’ to one of my personal childhood favorites, `The Goonies’. `Unaccompanied Minors’ is yet another entry into this subgenre, sure to excite children into being even more wild and uncontrollable as we approach this holiday season.

Part `Home Alone’, part `The Great Escape’, `Unaccompanied Minors’ mixes elements from the two, but puts them on the ultimate sugar rush. When a blizzard hits the Midwest all flights are grounded on Christmas Eve, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded, most notably the `Unaccompanied Minors’.

So what do you do with a bunch of rowdy, sugar filled, and parentless rug rats? Well if you are a grumpy, “Scrooge-like” airport manager played by stand up comedian Louis Black, you lock them in a basement and put Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) from `That 70’s Show’ in charge of them. Unfortunately for the upper brass of the airport there are a few youngsters who don’t follow like the other “sheep” and sneak out only to cause some holiday mischief.

What ensues is a cat and mouse-like chase throughout the airport as Spencer (Dyllan Christopher) and his newly found posse, the self proclaimed “UM’s”, attempt to save the Christmas spirit for Spencer’s doubtful, younger sister. Of course some of the adventures along their quest are downright silly, including sliding down baggage chutes and a high speed, Looney Toons-ish sled race down a snowy, seemingly never ending, hill. Now ignoring the fact that a mountain-like hill next to an airport, which requires vast amount of flat space to operate, is completely illogical, it does make for an amusing scene in the context of `Unaccompanied Minors’.

Granted there is enough material to keep the youngsters more than entertained, including even the faintest hint of romance for the few who are starting to realize the opposite sex might not have cooties after all, `Unaccompanied Minors’ doesn’t always forget the adults either. Perhaps the best nod to the begrudging parents who have been dragged to `Unaccompanied Minors’ comes from the appearance of “The Kid” from `Bad Santa’. As one of the rouge members of “The UM’s” the young actor, Brett Kelly, who warmed Billy Bob’s icy heart a few Christmases back is back paying homage to his former character by quipping more of the strange and completely illogical jargon that we have come to love him for. Just wait until you hear his explanation of what Christmas really is.

So if `Unaccompanied Minors’ is just a bunch of smart mouth kids, running amok and causing hell for a bunch of adults on Christmas Eve, where exactly is the substantial value for families to take their children? Well by then end of the story everything comes together for some good old fashioned Christmas morals. Miracles happen, families, new and old, are reunited and of course our “Scrooge” character finally discovers the value of Christmas. In fact the sugar coated finale of `Unaccompanied Minors’ is so sweet, and surprisingly fulfilling, that many of the illogical, childish happenings throughout the film can be forgiven.

In a way `Unaccompanied Minors’ isn’t anything we haven’t seen before. It follows in the same vein as its brethren wholeheartedly. While it may not be as good as the films that came before it, `Unaccompanied Minors’ is a surprisingly fun treat that the whole family can enjoy. Who would have thought Christmas Eve at an airport could be so much fun?

“I Remember Mama” presents a gentle and compassionate portrait of a family of Norwegian immigrants who settle in San Francisco in the early 1900’s. The movie is narrated by the family’s eldest daughter, now an adult, who has written a memoir about her childhood and her colorful family. Her family includes Mama, Papa, siblings, and some overbearing but well-intentioned aunts and uncle.

Nothing sensational or terribly exciting happens in the lives of these ordinary, working class immigrants. Yet, there is extraordinary poignance in the way in which the family deals with everyday crises such as the fate of an injured pet cat or the dilemma of a mother who is not allowed to see her child in the hospital.

Acclaimed director George Stevens reconstructs such events with an honesty and delicacy that resonates long after the movie ends. And Stevens elicits superb performances from his cast led by Irene Dunne as the title character “Mama”. Dunne’s performance is beautifully restrained as the humble, selfless matriach who possesses an indomitable spirit and generous heart. The rest of the talented ensemble includes familiar and beloved actors such as Oscar Homolka, Barbara Bel Geddes aka Miss Ellie on the television series “Dallas”, and Ellen Corby of “The Waltons” fame.

“I Remember Mama” is the kind of movie that will evoke childhood memories and remind you to appreciate where you came from and how far you’ve arrived.

In retrospect George Steven’s production of “I Remember Mama” is the high water mark in 1940s family life melodrama. Set at the turn of the last century in San Francisco, the film stars the usually scatterbrained Irene Dunne; on this occasion as the tender yet determined matriarch, Martha Hanson. Together with her husband, Lars (Philip Dorn) and extended family (buttressed by a stellar cast including Barbara Bel Geddes, Cedric Hardwicke, Ellen Corby, Rudy Vallee, Edgar Bergan and Florence Bates) the Norwegian clan weathers some hard knocks and poignant moments with grace and charm. This is one of those elegant little `jabs of pleasure’ that American cinema used to dole out en masse during its golden age, but now seems rendered in exceedingly short supply. Based on John Van Druten’s hit play (derived from Kathryn Forbes’s autobiographical memoir), the film is a veritable feast for the heart and mind; a richly textured and moving experience – not to be missed.

Unfortunately more could have been done to clean up this print before rushing it out to DVD. Warner’s transfer is marred by a considerable amount of age related artifacts. Though the gray scale is nicely balanced at times, the image often tends to exhibit an overly soft quality that is more blurry than evocative of mood or style. There is also a considerable amount of film grain present in most scenes. Otherwise, black and contrast levels on the whole tend to be deep and nicely balanced. There are no digital anomalies. The audio is mono and suffers at times from a muffled characteristic. Background hiss is detected in quiescent scenes. A brief introduction by the director’s son, George Steven’s Jr. is all the extras you get. Bottom line; this film still gets my recommendation for a must have Christmas stocking stuffer. It may not be presented here in its optimal condition but regardless, is sure to warm the heart throughout the holidays and beyond.

To begin with, it is definitely a very good show, something that I will explain later on.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu – Full Metal Mania!! Click Here

Let us start with the outline of the story.

As the rest of the DVDs, this one has three stories going on:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu – Full Metal Mania!! Click Here

1) Yakuza vs. Yakuza. Thing is that the first gang belongs to the father of one of Kaname’s friends. In order to help her, Sousuke will be dressed as a Bonta-kun again and take on their training; which also will result in creating an army of Bonta-kuns so that to beat the other gang.

2) As usual, the high-school has room problems and all clubs are training and working on the rooms that belong to other clubs, creating, at the same time, in the school campus a panic situation. In order to solve the problem the social club, which has only two members, is offering to give up its own room to help out the situation. The catch: The club that will pick up the most girls, during a contest, will win.

3) The final episode is one of the funniest. In that Sousuke receives instead of a gun part a biological weapon. Unfortunately, one of the class mates opens it and in order to `control’ the situation Sousuke puts the class into isolation inside the classroom. Obviously, hell will brake loose and create the funniest panic that I ever have seen.

Overall, FMP Fumoffu concentrates more on the `ordinary school life’ and on comedy, in contrast to FMP which balanced between comedy and action with Mechas. Nobody dies but it is funny as hell.

Additionally, the current series combine comedy, romance and action. As for the voices, either you hear it in Japanese or dubbed, both versions are very satisfying.

Last but not least, the price is the usual one that is charged for separated DVDs, in contrast to FMP 1st season that comes out in a box set and is much cheaper.

As a side note, the last FMP series that is out there is called FMP overload and currently available only on some other sides which for obvious reasons I cannot name here.

The final question:

Buying it or not?

Having watched all the series, my humble opinion would be: Yes and I highly recommend the shows.

It’s the final volume of one of the funniest series of the year, and that’s almost enough to make you cry, if you weren’t so busy laughing as you enjoy Full Metal Mania! In the first of 3 episodes, Chidori and Sousuke find out that their mild-mannered classmate Ren, the assistant to the student body president is the daughter of the local yakuza lord! But lately, since her father has been ill, some young punks have been trying to assert themselves. That’s when Bonta-kun comes into the picture to show the old-timers some lethal moves….if they survive the training! In the second episode, a war has broken out at school because there aren’t enough rooms for all the after-school clubs to meet. The Social Science Club has found a way to solve the problem AND perform an experiment on human relationships. They challenge all the other clubs to a contest. Whichever club can pick up the most women wins a room to meet in. Of course, we all know Sousuke is going to go to extremes as he tries to help his friends in the Photography Club. The finale concerns a bio-hazard substance that is accidentally opened and swallowed by a student in class which automatically makes all the students isolate themselves in the cramped room in order to keep the biological weapon from spreading. And we all know how rats act on a sinking ship.

Full Metal Panic Fumoffu is an outright hilarious series that I’m sorry to see come to an end. You would think that a military nut and a fan-abusing firebrand of a girl getting into misunderstandings would get old fast. But this show has kept up the great quality and laughs throughout the whole run. Maybe it’s because Chidori still cares for Sousuke no matter what idiotic stunt he tries. Or maybe its the attractive character designs and high-quality animation. If you liked the first Full Metal Panic series, you’ll get even more enjoyment out of this anime of a different vein.

If you liked this show, seek out the first Full Metal Panic anime which is equal parts comedy and action. There are also two manga series, Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic Overload.
